Masatomo Men’s S/S 09 Paris

I am a bit confused about this line Masatomo? The press release for the show states: “Discover MASATOMO’S S/S 09 collection, with it’s “Palace Holiday” casual style playing on masculine-feminine opposition.” I think the person who wrote that copied it from a trend report. LOL. I did not see that anywhere take a look for youself.  I saw more 80′s with the new millennium mixed in. Palace Holiday? Red Gloves and snake skin?  Looked like a throw back to a Cameo video “It’s like Candy.”

What was interesting was the python numbers emphasized in 2 colours: a dark green called “shady grade” in Japan reminiscent of the deepest forests and the antique pearled gold python is elegantly retro. All the pieces were accessorised with ties, bow ties, scarves fingerless gloves and great red shoes.

The press release I think did not hit the target of the show either. There were a lot of spelling mistakes, and they kept calling the shirts for men blouson! Men don’t wear blouson’s they wear shirts. I hope some one will point this out to System D and tell the Presse Agent in charge that his out-fit for the day was also off. Sorry dude, a Pink T-shirt, with a Pink motorcycle jacket, next to your pink skin and red hair just don’t go. This is fashion baby! Wish I had gotten a picture of that!

Mihara Yasuhiro S/S 09 I’m a Plastic Bag I can be re-Used

This show was one of the best in the week of “Fly Guys” M.Y. collection was focused on the artist ‘Joseph Beuys’. The overall impression is a collection that was worn, aged and sell-able! Fine leathers bonded with jersey, paired with shorts that have that sun bleached look.

Animal prints appear on cool ass jackets and seem to fade away. Paint was dabbed on the jersey pile and canvas lace up shoes continue the theme, as the crew walked the catwalk with a matching man bag or a a pencil shirt or pins made of real pencils

Antonio Miro’s show at Paris Fashion week for S/S 09 was re-birth of slick in men’s wear.

Today’s man demands wearable clothing that is casual, accessible to all style of man and classic at the same time has certain sharpness.
Antonio’s collection was inspired by Latin America. He mixed the salsa of the native people’s traditional costumes, which gave this Catalan designer inspiration to method his new collection.

The palette is earth tones courageously mixed with energetic tones such as fuchsia, pumpkin orange and turquoise.

Made of natural fibres like cotton and linen, making the clothes light and comfortable.

Kenzo A thousand and One nights Men’s S/S 2009

The Grand Bazaar that was Kenzo. The Kenzo team treated us to an afternoon at the souk. Complete with mint tea, honey almond cakes and rose bud and almond sorbet. What an afternoon! Kenzo invited us to live the essence of the collection. The spectators were surrounded by magic carpets that took as away to a far of land and time.

Arabain Nights roded down the runway wrapped in layers of white gossamer fine boned coloured shirts with floral appliques, a billowing white tunic with gold buttons, darted jacket cut from single pieces of fabric, and a pair of draped cotton voile dhoti pants that narrowed at the cuff. Around his head he draped a piece of ivory silk that resembled a ties cut into turbans, how genius.

The attire for the meeting of men was of radiant shades of emerald greens, luminescent ochre, intense magentas, royal blue, turquoise and burnished gold. These garments mirrored the opulence of the surroundings. A clash of jewel-like-painterly florals, madras checks, artisanal woven stripes and romantic brocades. Waistcoats and suits were edged with ornate swirls of embroidery. The Nehru collar jackets were lavished with panals of thread-work and antique coins. Shirts were fashioned from fragments of block-printed florals. Patchwork knits in a kaleidoscopic array of shined alongside jersey djellaba style tunics edged in gold.

This was not a trend we witnessed this was fashion. It was like entering a place of dreams with hippie baba cool’s everywhere. Thanks stylecartel donna Charlotte Smith and Photographer Olivier Lalin
