Skinny Bitch!
OK I have to admit that yes I want to be a skinny bitch too. What is so wrong about that? I work out try to eat healthy and still YO-YO. Why does all the good things in life have to be so bad for you?
The Book Skinny Bitch caught me off guard. You always search for advice on how to lose those 3 kilos/6 pounds you gained over the winter, or the 3kilos/6pounds you gained every year that you did not change your diet and exercise. Thinking in Kilos makes it easier! Now that is already June again.
It is time to take loosing weight seriously and implement exercise in your life. There is nothing out there that is going to make you lose the weight over night. Like Madonna say’s in her interview with British Elle it is all about discipline. Diets don’t work cause you always gain the weight back anyway, you diet get down to the size you want then go back to eating French Fries at your desk at work and stop working out. Then BAM you are at the point where you know you’ve gained weight again. Jeans don’t fit, face looks like a balloon, your partner doesn’t want to make love, out of breath, and all your pants have holes in the inner thighs!
Not that Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham needs to lose any weight, but she’s recently been spotted with the book Skinny Bitch, a guide to vegan eating with a sassy, Hollywood attitude. One critic says the book dispenses pretty common weight-loss advice: stop eating junk food, sugar, sweeteners, caffeine, dairy, refined carbs and alcohol. The book is apparently militantly anti-meat, calling people who try to lose weight while eating meat morons and referring to the Atkins Diet as the rotting meat diet. It’s more an advertisement for vegetarianism than it is a diet book. There’s a joke in there somewhere about the authors being bitches because they aren’t eating junk food, sugar, dairy and alcohol.
We have to change our lives and eat healthy all the time and exercise every day. Oh by the way Sugar is like Crack. You will be surprised how much sugar is in food. Change to water, when you are hungry drink water!!! Give up sugar and you will see a big difference.
No time for the gym, sorry honey you are just lazy, get your fat ass off of the sofa and go work out. Buy the WI Fit if you have no time. Oh but what about the kids, I say what about daddy? Men seem to stay fitter then we women, so he can watch the Bratz , so you can go work out! In the end it is a win-win situation, you feel sexier and have a better sex drive. You have to much work , well since living in Europe I have learned to take time for myself, tell you boss you are going to work out. What can he say you want to be healthy!
I am not totally in agreement with the book Skinny Bitch because I need to eat meat sorry all you Vegans, but if you can eat like a rabbit you will be skinny. Yet, I have upped my Veggie in take. I do agree with you have to read labels to know what you are eating, if you don’t know what it is you probably should not eat it. Companies find all sorts of ways to make food taste good, and make us addicted. These are life lessons to learn about our eating habits and this book is good for that reason. Think about it would your grandparents eat all the crab we put into our bodies? NO!

The Germans are coming Part II Tillman Lauterbach
Tillman Lauterbach Fall 08/09
It is rare that you find a designer whose Men’s RTW as well as it’s women’s RTW to be equally as strong as the other! After viewing both Tillman Lauterbach’s men and women’s line that is the impression I get. In today’s market it is hard enough for a young designer to make their mark. Tillman Lauterbach screams youthfulness, vibrancy and difference in its RTW wears and thank goodness he did not follow the skinny trend for men. What a breath of fresh air especially for a young designer to create something new, and not something we have seen a billion times on the runway before. “Vive le Difference!”
The third season RTW for the German born designer Tillman Lauterbach showcased a serious and tranquil collection. When Tillman speaks about himself he admits to preferring the simplicity of the ordinary. Lauterbach is obsessed with purifying his lines that define his clothes. The tones of his collections are usually low key, but always stay true to high fashion. Both men’s and women’s collections are playfully fun and wearable for all body architect’s. The range leaves the doors open for a variety of fashion consumers to find something they could add to their collection of garments to live it up a bit. In his own words: “I spend most of my time trying to find the balance between wear ability and innovation—translating beauty into common language without losing its magic,”
Yet, what I find most interesting about this Label is the “33 X 11” project what a Brilliant idea and a great way to start your history as a young designer. I could go on and talk about the collection entitled “Happy Less” but I rather invite you to discover the “33 X 11” project. Getting recognition for a good cause is the best way to get Press for a young designer. Eco friendly clothing is all the rage, but what about fashion for a good cause? The “33 X 11” project is a sequence of 33 T-shirts designed with the artistic cooperation of mentally challenged children and Lauterbach’s recognition for these children’s exceptional abilities.
The “33 X 11” project is foundation is a special print technique in which plan white-T’s are folded around a cardboard square and are tied together with different strands of cotton and silk by these children. They have a three print colour ways, red, green and blue. Which gives an eleven-colour palette ranging from light to mid tone to intense. Afterward a large iron plate coated with ink is placed on the folded items, bound garments are applied with pressure. Leaving the impression of the folds of the cotton and silk strips wrapped around the T’s, each piece is different, Limited Edition and made with the hands of mentally challenged children!
The story of how these T’s are made is amazing to view as well as the source of its creativity is wonderful to think about. The T’s are on display at the Gallery P.C. Neumann in Basel, Denmark. The profits from the sales will go to the Institution where the children study www.hks-ratingen.de for more information contact Gallery P.C. Neumann galerie@petercneumann.com
